Apologies that we are still resolving a few gremlins with some times and hope to have these fixed soon.

We would appreciate any feedback on the day to chairman@themarlowregatta.com - what went wrong, what went well, did the TT & Finals format work?

It has been drawn to our attention that at the Metropolitan Regatta, many cars were parked in local roads in Boveney. Local Planning prohibits this and several residents and businesses were severely affected. Police are now alert to this problem and will be patrolling and take action. So please don’t park off site, on roads or verges. You will be in trouble if you do.

All crews should have received their car park passes, 3 per eight, 2 per four and 1 per double/single. So please use them and park in the designated area at Dorney Lake.

Important instructions for car and trailer parking for this Saturday is now available here. Please read to you know where to be directed to on the day.

We are keeping an eye on the weather, but as things stand it is looking good and we hope you will be needing shade and suncream rather than umbrellas and waterproofs.

This Saturday 21 June, Dorney Lake, the 2012 Olympic Regatta venue, will play host to the Marlow Regatta. The appetite to race at this world class facility and this historical regatta remains strong with a bumper entry this year which will see competitors from schools, colleges, clubs and universities from home and abroad making the most of their last opportunity to eye up the competition before Henley Royal Regatta in two weeks time.

The format of racing this year has been changed to maximise the opportunities for crews to race. Rather than a traditional  “Heat / Repechage / Final” progression system, the first race in each event will be run as a Time Trial and then crews will be seeded into finals (A, B, C etc) based on their results.

This system will ensure that all crews get more than one race and will create some exciting races. It is anticipated that the photo finish camera is going to be very busy as competitors are pitted against crews of a similar speed.

There is something for everyone this year as local schools and clubs, such as Marlow, Sir William Borlase, Henley, Leander and Maidenhead will be represented alongside crews from across England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and South Africa, and Australia.

Not only will the racing be tight but spectators will be able to listen to the action from start to finish on Regatta Radio on (87,7 Fm) and visit "Once Upon a Bus" - a double-decker bus with traditional storytellers to entertain the children, or big kid in you, between races.

Commenting on this year’s regatta, Marlow Regatta Chairman, Peter Blaseby said:

"Although the regatta committee are disappointed that they have had to revert to a single day regatta for 2014due to the unavailability of the venue on Sunday, we are delighted that the entries are so strong. Spectators are set for an exciting day of racing across all racing categories. "

"A regatta such as ours relies on the support of the athletes, our sponsors, volunteers, visiting officials and spectators and we are delighted that once again the Marlow Regatta is set to be top class fixture in the racing calendar"

Entry to the regatta is £15 per car and there is no special dress code - unless you would like to become a subscriber. You can follow the action on Twitter @marlowregatta and for more information visit www.themarlowregatta.com.
